Biography

Stefanos Koroneos has performed throughout Italy including appearances at Teatro alla Scala, the Rossini Opera Festival with Maestro Antonino Fogliani and director Emilio Sagi, Teatro Giglio di Lucco and Teatro Reggio di Parma with Giuliano Carella, Teatro Verdi di Bussetto with Maestros Julian Kovatchev and Stefano Ranzani, Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna, Teatro Comunale di Pisa, Teatro Fraschini di Pavi, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Teatro Goldoni di Livorno, Teatro Comunale di Noto, Teatro Comunale di Trento, Teatro Comunale di Bolzano, Teatro Comunale di Katanzaro, Teatro Comunale di Noto, the Eastern Festival of Rome, and Teatro Comunale di Piacenza with Maestro Günter Neuhold and director Pier Luigi Pizzi.

Elsewhere in Europe, he has appeared the title role in Gluck's Orfeo et Euridice at the Apollo Theater in Patras Greece, the General in Sakellaridis’ operetta The Godson with the Greek National Opera, the Baron in La Traviata with the Bolshoi Opera directed by Franco Zeffirelli, and at the Athens Concert Hall conducted by Richard Bonynge, Alcindoro and Benoit in La Bohème at Oslo’s Den Nye Opera; Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Schaunard in La Bohème, and Dancairo in Carmen at Staatstheater Freiburg; and Fra Melitone in La Forza del Desinto at Theater Osnabrück, under the baton of Andreas Hotz. He has also appeared in Korea as the Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro with Seoul Opera.

In the U.S. he has appeared with New York City Opera as Bartolo in Barbiere di Siviglia and as Magnifico in La Cenerentola. Elsewhere, he has appeared as the King in Gotham Chamber Opera’s production of El Gato con Botas, conducted by Neil Goren and directed by Moisés Kaufman; Il Prologo in Gnecchi's Cassandra with Tearro Grattacielo; the Sacristan in Tosca with Palm Beach Opera conducted by Bruno Aprea and directed by Fabrizio Melano and Connecticut Opera conducted by Willie Anthony Waters; Bartolo with Opera New Hampshire, Boheme Opera in Trenton, MidAtlantic Productions in Seton Hall and Opera in Williamsburg, Carlo Tresca in Coppola's Sacco e Vanzetti (and other roles) with Opera Tampa conducted by Anton Coppola; the Sacristan in Tosca with Palmetto Opera; Alcindoro and Benoit in La Bohème and Wagner in Faust with Fresno Grand Opera; Danilo in The Merry Widow with St. Petersburg Opera; and Ford in Falstaff with Taconic Opera; Silvio in I Pagliacci with Maryland Lyric Opera; and as Don Pedro in L’Africaine and Il Principe in Adrianna Lecouvreour with the Opera Orchestra of New York conducted by Eve Queler.

Other notable roles in his repertoire include Don Alvaro in Il Viaggio a Reims, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, The King in Isabeau, Monterone in Rigoletto, Sam in Un Ballo in Maschera, and Baron Zeta in The Merry Widow.

A native of Greece and former resident of Italy where he studies voice and repertoire with Sesto Bruscantini most notabely, Mr. Koroneoos currently resides in the U.S.A.
