Biography
Harry Dworchak is one of opera’s sought-after dramatic bass-baritones, praised for his strength and versatility in a varied repertoire in important theaters throughout the world.
Notable theaters with whom Mr. Dworchak has appeared include the Metropolitan Opera as the Geisterbote in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Monterone in Rigoletto, Waldner in Arabella, Ferrando in Il Trovatore, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Timur inTurandot, and in Billy Budd and Pelléas et Melisande; Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as Scarpia in Tosca, Timur, Ferrando, the King in Aida, Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, Geisterbote in Die Frau Ohne Schatten, Washington Opera, Palm Beach Opera, and Frankfurt Opera in the title role of Der fliegende Holländer, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Don Pizarro in Fidelio, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Scarpia, Paris Opera, Bastille as Banquo in Macbeth and for Khovanshchina, Zurich Opera as Ferrando, Teatro Liceo in Barcelona as Raimondo, Vienna Volksoper as Oroveso in Norma,.Montreal Opera and Opera Pacific as Scarpia., Austin Lyric Opera as Jochanaan in Salome, New Orleans Opera as Alberich in Siegfried, Welsh National Opera as Oroveso in Norma, New York City Opera as Scarpia, the title role in Massenet’s Don Quichotte, and Escamillo in Carmen. He has also performed Wotan and The Wanderer in a new production of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at Stadttheater Augsburg.
Harry Dworchak is a native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, and received his musical training at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He is a recipient of the prestigious Richard Tucker Award.
