Biography

Anooshah Golesorkhi has achieved renown as a charismatic and forceful interpreter of the most demanding baritone roles with the world’s leading opera companies. In North America, he has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera (Amonasro in Aida and Alfio in in Cavalleria Rusticana), San Francisco Opera (Shaklovity in Khovanshchina and title role in Arshak II), the Opera Orchestra of New York as Michonnet in Adriana Lecouvreur, Barnaba in La Gioconda and as Ezio in Attila at Carnegie Hall, Washington Concert Opera as Michele in Il Tabarro, Florida Grand Opera (Miami) as Renato, Opera Pacific (Costa Mesa, California) as Amonasro, and the Montreal, Quebec and the San Diego Opera as the High Priest in Samson et Dalila.

His impressive European credentials include appearances in Germany at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Rigoletto, Nabucco, Alfio, and Amonasro in Aida, Hamburg State Opera as Macbeth, Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Simone in a new production of Zemlinsky’s A Florentine Tragedy, di Luna and Amonasro, and Michele, and Leipzig Opera as Nabucco and Germont. and Stuttgart Opera as Scarpia. In Italy, he has appeared with the Rome Opera on tour to Japan as Rigoletto, and in Rome as Jochannan, Iago, and as Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West, Florence as Amonasro, Genoa as Nabucco, Cagliari, Sardinia as Nabucco and at the Teatro Regio Torino as Sancho Panza in Don Quichotte. In Norway, he has appeared with the Norwegian National Opera as Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera, the Count di Luna, and the High Priest, and in Bergen as Posa, Macbeth, Iago, the High Priest, Renato, and Nabucco. In Austria, he has performed at the Vienna State Opera (Alfio), in Graz as Germont in La Traviata and, in Switzerland, in Basel as Rigoletto and in St. Gallen as Barnaba. In Great Britain, he has appeared as Scarpia at the Royal Albert Hall. Elsewhere, he has appeared with Athens Opera as Rigoletto, Poland as Iago, Opera de Nice as the High Priest, Ford in Falstaff, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, and in Spain at the Teatro Real in Madrid (title role in Simon Boccanegra) and Las Palmas as Gerard.

The current season includes appearances in Dusseldorf as Scarpia and Michele, Leipzig in Pagliacci, Ghost of Centerville, Copenhagen as Scarpia, Stockholm as Iago, the Arena di Verona as Amonasro and Leipzig as Tonio and for the world premiere of The Ghost of Canterville by Gordon Getty. The coming (2017-2018) season includes appearances in Leipzig as Scarpia, Dusseldorf as Michele, Alfio, the Father in Hansel und Gretel, and the title role in The Flying Dutchman. In addition, he will return to the U.S.A. to sing Rigoletto for Opera Carolina and Toledo Opera.

Mr. Golesorkhi was featured as the "Cover Artist" of the prestigious German Opera magazine "Orpheus". A resident of Berlin, Germany, Anooshah Golesorkhi is of Persian descent and a native of southern California, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in music composition as well as a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry from the University of San Diego, and San Diego State University, respectively.
