Edward Mout, Tenor

Edward Mout has earned praised for his entertaining stage presence and for his “mellifluously youthful tenor.” He is currently a member of the ensemble of the Staatsoper Hannover, where he has performed a number of roles, most notably Beppe in I Pagliacci, Flute in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Goro in Madama Butterfly, the First Hoodlum in Kiss Me Kate, Shabby Peasant in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Balthasar Zorn in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Heinrich der Schreiber in Tannhäuser, Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Vater Mignon in Die Teufel von Loudon, Gherardo/Tinca in Il Trittico, and Mime in Das Rheingold.

Elsewhere, he has appeared with the Wolf Trap Opera Company as the Four Servants in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd, Lyric Opera of Chicago as Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos and Simpleton in Boris Godunov, and The Metropolitan Opera as Postiglione in La Fanciulla del West.

Edward Mout is an alumnus of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center, appearing with the company in La Boheme, La Traviata, Manon, Shepherd in Tristan und Isolde, Beppe in student matinees of I Pagliacci and as Count Almaviva for one performance of Il Barbiere di Siviglia on the main stage as well as in student matinee performances.

He was also a Resident Artist with the Minnesota Opera where he performed Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and apprentice artist with various summer opera festivals, including Central City Opera, where he returned as Orpheus in Orpheus in the Underworld.
